As an iOS Engineer on the Design System team at SumUp, you will translate the company's design language into a reusable library of UI components and experience patterns, enabling product teams to build cohesive and accessible user experiences at scale. Working closely with the Mobile Platform team, you will set standards and provide guidance across all product teams, shaping the foundation for faster development and higher-quality products used by millions worldwide. This role involves collaborating with product and design teams, embedding accessibility best practices, mentoring engineers, and leading the migration from UIKit to SwiftUI. You will also proactively address technical debt to maintain engineering excellence and codebase health.

Requirements

  • Fluent in Swift, with deep hands-on knowledge of both SwiftUI and UIKit, and a clear view on when and how to use each
  • Experience building or contributing to a design system, component library, or shared UI framework, and understanding what it takes to make components truly reusable and scalable
  • Strong grasp of testing best practices for UI components, including unit tests, snapshot tests, and UI automation
  • Comfortable reviewing code and mentoring peers, with the ability to share knowledge and give constructive feedback
  • Self-motivated and structured working style, with the ability to manage own priorities and communicate clearly in English
  • Genuine curiosity about the iOS ecosystem, following Apple's releases closely and experimenting with new APIs
