Description

SumUp is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to work on its Point-of-Sale solution inside the SumUp SuperApp, which serves cafes, shops, bars, salons and other small businesses with product catalogs, inventory management, analytics, compliance support and loyalty tools. The engineer builds new features for the item catalog and helps evolve the app toward a Kotlin Multiplatform strategy that shares code across Android and iOS. The role includes improving application architecture, maintaining a unified Android app distributed in more than 60 countries, writing documentation and robust tests, and mentoring other engineers. Work happens in a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineering managers and engineers, on-site in Berlin.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in mobile engineering with Android and Kotlin
  • 2+ years of experience with Jetpack Compose
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns such as MVVM and MVI
  • Expertise in building modular, scalable app architectures
  • Good knowledge of reactive programming with Flow, Coroutines and concurrency
  • Strong grasp of testing best practices and ability to write resilient tests
  • Commitment to clean code while balancing pragmatism and perfection
  • Keen interest in multiplatform development with Kotlin Multiplatform
