Description

NavVis is a global leader in reality capture and digital factory solutions, building mobile mapping systems with hardware and software developed in Munich. The System Software team owns the on-device software stack across the product line, including NavVis VLX and MLX systems, delivering a working device and a great mapping experience. As Team Lead, you will lead the System Software team within the Mapping and Perception (MAP) department, overseeing the full on-device stack from UI and Python backend down to the OS and platform layer. You will combine technical direction with people leadership, working closely with hardware teams to turn hardware into a shippable product. This role involves managing cross-team boundaries, driving reliability and scalability, and ensuring software readiness for production launches.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field
  • 7-10 years of professional software engineering experience on systems that run on real hardware
  • Experience managing a shared technical boundary with another team (e.g., platform/driver or software/hardware) through interface definitions, handover conventions, and defined ownership
  • Strong C++ experience in a production codebase, with solid Python for tooling, scripting, and automation
  • Solid understanding of application development and UI frameworks, enough to give technical direction on UI and application development
  • Demonstrated experience leading or technically mentoring a software team: people development, task coordination, and cross-functional stakeholder communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English, including explaining technical concepts to hardware engineering and production management
