Description

Babbel Labs, an AI-first company within the Babbel group based in Berlin, is hiring a Senior Infrastructure / DX Engineer for its small Platform team. The role builds and operates the internal developer platform that lets product teams ship and run services independently, while driving a cloud migration that consolidates services into a modern, cloud-native AWS setup. The engineer designs and communicates system and infrastructure architecture, works directly with product engineers to unblock them, and uses coding agents as part of the daily workflow. It is a hands-on individual-contributor role requiring deep AWS and Terraform experience plus TypeScript/Node.js.

Requirements

  • Strong, hands-on cloud engineering experience on AWS at organisational scale: multi-account setups, identity and access, networking, and account-level guardrails
  • A security-first instinct: least privilege, secrets management, and routine patching and vulnerability remediation
  • Deep, hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, having built and maintained production estates in Terraform or a close equivalent, comfortable owning delivery pipelines on AWS
  • TypeScript on Node.js as primary application language, or a deliberate and recent move to it; Python as a welcome secondary; Go or Rust useful for performance-critical components
  • A track record of building or choosing internal tooling that lets other engineers work faster
  • Delivery experience in both lean startup settings and larger organisations, with ownership from start to finish
  • Coding agents are part of the daily workflow, with output checked before being relied on
