Description

Helsing, a European defence AI company, is hiring an AI Research Engineer to join its GPU Simulation team. The role involves building and scaling a GPU-based simulator used to train reinforcement-learning agents for air autonomy at scale, covering flight dynamics, sensing fidelity, and domain randomisation. The engineer will also support sim-to-real transfer by exporting trained policies to downstream simulators and physical hardware. The position sits at the intersection of AI, GPU computing, and physics-based simulation, with potential to grow into a leadership role as the team scales.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, Control Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Solid software engineering skills, writing clean and well-structured code in Python and/or languages like Rust or modern C++
  • Experience deploying software to production, including testing and monitoring
  • Depth in at least one of: GPU programming, high-performance simulation, physics or flight-dynamics modelling, or navigation and control
  • Ability to own high-quality, maintainable code and contribute to shared libraries used by the wider team
