Description
Superchat, a Berlin-based, profitable customer messaging and AI platform used by 10,000+ businesses, is hiring a Head of Finance to own all of finance end to end, reporting directly to the founders. The role covers taking over and maintaining the company's driver-based financial model, owning accounting and monthly/annual closings under HGB, running forecasting, budgeting, and liquidity planning, and leading the annual audit. It also includes KPI definition and business partnering with team leads across Sales, Marketing, Product and Customer Success, plus funding and investor relations including data-room readiness, financial due diligence, and board reporting. The role requires 7+ years of finance experience and fluent German and English, and is based on-site in Berlin.
Requirements
- 7+ years of finance experience across the full cycle: closing, forecast, and board reporting
- Closing and audit expertise: independent ownership of monthly and annual closings under HGB, including revenue recognition and accruals, and coordinating the annual audit with external auditors through to completed financial statements
- Expert financial modelling: ability to build driver-based, integrated three-statement models from scratch and document them for others to operate
- Forecasting experience owning full budget and forecast cycles, combining top-down targets with bottom-up input from team leads
- Ability to act as a business partner delivering reasoned recommendations, not just numbers, and following up on implementation
- Experience with investors and the board, including preparing and presenting board materials and going through financial due diligence, ideally on the company side
- Ability to bridge finance rigour with startup culture and fast-changing priorities
- Appetite for automating manual work out of the close and reporting cycle
- Strong communicator able to translate complex financial data into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders
- Fluent German and English, written and verbal
