Description

SumUp's Localization team builds and owns the systems that let merchants in all 38 of its markets use its products in their own language. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer you will design, build and optimise localization solutions across product, CMS, CRM, marketing and design systems, improve the localization management platform and embed automated language and quality checks into the workflows. You will partner with Web, Mobile, Website and Comms Platform teams and explore how AI and language technology can strengthen the localization stack. The role calls for a strong backend background, ideally in Go, experience with RESTful APIs in distributed systems, PostgreSQL and Kafka, plus exposure to React and TypeScript. It is based in SumUp's Berlin office with an office-first setup.

Requirements

  • Strong background in backend engineering with Go, Python, Rust or C++
  • Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs in a microservices or distributed systems environment
  • Working knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL and event streaming tools such as Kafka
  • Ability to translate priorities from non-technical stakeholders into scoped, shippable engineering work
  • Ability to operate independently across a fragmented, distributed system landscape within architecture owned by other teams
  • Exposure to frontend frameworks such as React and languages like TypeScript
  • Experience with translation management systems (TMS) or localization of web, mobile or other content platforms
