Description

A lead architecture role with overall technical responsibility for the architecture, development and implementation of complex sovereign cloud platforms, focused on data sovereignty, scalability and interoperability. The architect designs open-source cloud architectures based on Linux virtualization, Kubernetes and CNCF projects, and drives innovation in container orchestration, network virtualization (SDN) and bare-metal provisioning. The role includes creating and reviewing Go code, defining architecture standards and work packages, and designing immutable OS stacks and secure air-gap architectures for Kubernetes bootstrapping, which is critical for high-security environments such as the defense sector. Close collaboration with specialist teams and the customer-side lead architect is central to the role.

Requirements

  • Understanding of cloud computing architecture, IaaS service models (network, compute, storage) and deployment models (public, private, hybrid)
  • Mastery of open-source cloud technologies such as Linux virtualization (QEMU-KVM, Libvirt, Cloud Hypervisor) and key CNCF projects for infrastructure orchestration
  • Familiarity with network virtualization and SDN concepts
  • Profound knowledge of open-source software development, including Git, continuous integration and collaboration best practices
  • Profound Kubernetes knowledge for container orchestration and advanced orchestrator models
  • Ability to create and validate code in the Go programming language
  • Ability to create detailed, clear work packages for development teams
  • Experience with immutable OS concepts (Linux or similar), Secure Boot Chain and PXE-based bare-metal provisioning
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes cluster bootstrap procedures, particularly in air-gap and offline scenarios (USB ISO installation, etcd initialization)
  • Experience in cloud architecture for defense and public sector with a focus on data sovereignty and high security requirements
  • German at native speaker level and good spoken and written English
