Description

CHECK24's Search team within the AI Forge is hiring a (Junior) Data Scientist to help build scalable AI solutions for search and ranking across CHECK24's more than 50 products. The role combines classical information retrieval, deep learning, embeddings, and large language models to build production systems, covering the full lifecycle from ideation to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement, with a particular focus on agentic workflows. Candidates need a quantitative Master's degree, at least one year of practical machine learning or data science experience, strong Python and PyTorch skills, and practical experience with LLM-based applications. The role is a full-time, permanent position based at CHECK24's Munich headquarters.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed degree (usually Master's) in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, electrical engineering, or a comparable quantitative field, with strong grades in quantitative subjects
  • Solid understanding of ML fundamentals and systematic model evaluation, allowing you to assess model performance, test hypotheses, and justify improvements
  • At least one year of relevant practical experience in machine learning or data science, including from working student roles, internships, or personal projects
  • Strong Python skills and practical experience with ML or deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch
  • Solid classical ML skills such as gradient boosting, regression, and feature engineering, beyond LLM or RAG applications
  • Practical experience with LLM-based applications, LLM evaluation, tool use, or agentic workflows
  • Practical experience with APIs (e.g. FastAPI), containers, and Git, ideally including a self-deployed service
  • Good English skills (at least C1)
