Description

HOLOPLOT is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for Platform & Infrastructure in Berlin to build and operate the platform its software-defined sound systems run on, including installations such as the Sphere in Las Vegas. Audio processing is distributed across hundreds of embedded-Linux loudspeakers coordinated via in-house and open-source services on on-premises Kubernetes clusters, with AWS-hosted services for remote monitoring and configuration. The role architects services to provision, configure and manage server fleets across AWS and local clusters, builds control-plane logic and provisioning workflows, and owns the AWS infrastructure as code. It is a software-engineering role first, with a compensated on-call rotation and responsibility for how the platform behaves in production. Several years of production software experience, Kubernetes control-plane knowledge, AWS and IaC (Terraform, Ansible) and distributed-systems expertise are required, mostly in Go and Python.

Requirements

  • Several years of professional software engineering experience, most of it designing and shipping production systems
  • Fluency in software engineering as a craft: concurrency, error handling, testing and designing APIs other teams build on
  • Working knowledge of the Kubernetes control plane and the operator/controller pattern, including unhealthy-cluster behaviour
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform and Ansible)
  • Comfort across several languages, mostly Go and Python with Rust and C++ elsewhere in the stack
  • Experience building distributed systems and understanding how they fail (partitions, partial rollouts, clock skew, retries, reconciliation)
  • A good sense for software architecture and maintainability
  • Strong command of Linux, scripting and automation
  • Experience instrumenting software for telemetry and using it to answer questions about running systems
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Willingness to take part in compensated on-call and weekend work when installations need it
  • Experience using AI for engineering
