Description

Celonis is hiring a mid-to-senior Backend Software Engineer (Java) for its Metadata Platform DB team in Munich, which owns Postgres end-to-end from infrastructure and provisioning to the software layer on top. The engineer takes ownership of Java components in the Postgres ecosystem and improves their reliability, performance, and security while working alongside the infrastructure-as-code stack. The role includes maintaining forks of open-source projects and collaborating with upstream teams and downstream consumers. Solid Java experience, database and distributed-systems knowledge, and strong English communication are required.

Requirements

  • Solid professional experience building Java applications (3+ years for mid-level, 7+ years for senior)
  • Experience with infrastructure and IaC concepts, comfortable working with or alongside Terraform or similar provisioning tooling
  • Experience building, packaging, and debugging applications in containerized and Kubernetes environments (Docker/OCI)
  • Experience with databases (Postgres preferred, including MVCC and concurrency mechanics) and distributed systems
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests
  • Strong communication skills in English and a passion for clean, maintainable code
