Description

Backend Engineer role in Zalando Payments, based in Dortmund or Berlin, building the core APIs that let customers pay securely, including deferred payment options. You design, develop, test and operate microservices on AWS and own the full application lifecycle within your team's architecture. The team keeps high standards in continuous integration, code quality, code reviews and test-driven development, and the services interface directly with merchant systems. Candidates have a computer science degree or equivalent IT experience and ideally know Java and Spring Boot.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science or a related field, or experience as an IT specialist
  • Interest in making an impact by building and operating production services
  • Experience building, and ideally operating, production services, preferably in e-commerce or payments
  • Willingness to actively learn new technologies and practices
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively within the team and beyond team boundaries
  • Great communication skills and the ability to lead technical decision-making with the team
  • Excellent, logical and pragmatic problem-solving skills
  • Positive and firm attitude towards continuous integration, code quality, code reviews and test-driven development
