Description

Zalando is looking for a backend Software Engineer for the Domain Gateway Team, which connects clients and backends through the Fashion Store API (GraphQL). You will develop, improve and maintain features that keep the API performant, cost-efficient and easy to integrate with, while improving developer experience and stakeholder productivity. The team also owns Nova (feature flagging and experimentation), the PR review and support process, and Qkeep (a GraphQL query management tool). The role follows a 'you build it, you run it' approach, including on-call roughly once every two months.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in API programming and architecture and resolver implementations as a backend software engineer
  • Know how to connect frontend requests to various backend services, especially in a microservice environment
  • Strong experience in Node.js and GraphQL
  • Experience with modern deployment tools and continuous integration/delivery processes
  • Good understanding of system fundamentals (caching, security, CI/CD, Kubernetes)
  • Commitment to on-call roughly once every 2 months
