Description

SimScale is seeking a Senior SRE / Platform Engineer to own and improve the cloud infrastructure behind its browser-based simulation platform. The role involves managing AWS and EKS, observability, disaster recovery, security, and multi-region architecture, as well as elastic GPU/HPC capacity and internal developer tooling. You will build standards, guardrails, and self-service tooling to help engineering teams run workloads safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with a path toward tech-lead ownership. You will join a small infrastructure team supporting over 50 engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in SRE, platform, or infrastructure engineering
  • Software development experience with production-quality code in Python, Go, Rust, or Java
  • Strong systems foundation: understanding of Linux internals and distributed systems
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (or GCP), Terraform, ArgoCD, and Kubernetes
  • Observability and reliability experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, distributed tracing, and SLOs/SLIs
  • Production debugging depth: ability to investigate complex failures and communicate clearly during incidents
  • Security and compliance awareness: understanding of access control, auditability, disaster recovery, logging, and SOC 2
