Description

Moonfare is a Berlin-headquartered private markets platform that gives investors access to vetted private equity and other private market funds, operating from eight offices across Europe, the US and Asia. The Data Engineer builds and scales the company's data platform from ingestion through to the warehouse layer, powering AI agents, business intelligence and decision-making across the organisation. The role covers building and maintaining production data pipelines, taking end-to-end ownership of pipeline components, and modelling data with data lake and warehouse concepts including partitioning, file formats and performance tuning. It also involves applying data governance and security practices such as least-privilege IAM, encryption and PII handling. The engineer works closely with analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into working data solutions and proposes improvements to team practices.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines in production
  • Strong Python and advanced SQL skills
  • Basic Scala experience or a willingness to pick it up; otherwise excellent command of Java or C#
  • Familiarity with DBT, including models, tests and documentation
  • Solid working knowledge of AWS or another major cloud provider
  • Experience with relational databases and data warehouses
  • Confident with Git, CI/CD and modern deployment practices
  • Practical experience with Docker
