Description

Delivery Hero is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin) to join its Fintech team in Berlin and build the wallet, payment and anti-fraud solutions behind the group's internal payments engine. You will focus on the core payment features that manage the lifecycle of different payment flows and keep payment operations consistent and reliable across more than 70 countries. The role is deeply backend and distributed-systems oriented, using Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Hibernate and JUnit, with end-to-end ownership of services including infrastructure automation, testing strategy, on-call and observability. You will also diagnose complex production issues across multi-region microservices and raise the engineering bar through mentorship and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and delivering software systems in highly complex business domains at global scale within fintech or payments
  • Deep backend engineering expertise with a strong preference for distributed systems
  • Hands-on mastery of Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate and JUnit
  • A strong engineering ownership mindset with a passion for automation, CI/CD and reliability
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, curiosity and a creative approach to complex challenges
  • A high bar for quality, performance and craftsmanship with strong attention to detail
