Description

Forto, a digital freight forwarding and logistics company, is looking for an Expert Trade Analyst to join its international Trade Management team in Berlin, with Amsterdam as a secondary location. The role is a hands-on technical one: you will build the analytical backbone behind trade management decisions, spending most of your time writing code, building complex data models, writing high-performance queries and designing algorithms. You will own the data pipelines and models behind gross profit reporting, demand forecasting and yield management, and build predictive models that help procurement buy smarter and pricing sell more effectively. You will also design dashboards in Looker, Tableau or Power BI and synthesise external market data with internal performance data to give trade managers concrete, data-backed recommendations on lane strategy, carrier negotiations and risk. The team values speed and creativity alongside technical depth, including pragmatic use of modern AI tooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or a related quantitative field
  • 5+ years of experience in advanced analytics, data science or quantitative modelling
  • Expert-level SQL including complex joins, window functions and query optimisation
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R for statistical modelling
  • Fluent and pragmatic use of AI tools to accelerate coding and analysis
  • Deep understanding of commercial levers such as pricing, gross profit, yield and procurement
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve ambiguous problems quickly
  • Strong communicator, able to translate technical work for business stakeholders
