Description

Hands-on senior individual-contributor ML engineer on Babbel Labs' learner-personalisation team, which tracks what learners have mastered and decides what they should practice next. You will own core personalisation and mastery-tracking subsystems end to end, working with the Principal Scientist to take designs from spec into production and shaping new features from the start. The role includes designing rigorous offline benchmarks and online experiments, instrumenting and running what you build, and delivering with coding agents. It suits an engineer with production ML experience in recommendation, ranking or scoring systems and a strong grounding in probabilistic and Bayesian modeling.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on ML engineering experience shipping models to production, ideally recommendation, ranking, scoring or trust-and-safety systems under real user load
  • Experience with probabilistic modeling, latent-variable modeling and Bayesian inference, or equivalent rigor from an adjacent domain
  • ML system evaluation: defining and monitoring metrics, debugging unexpected output and safely rolling out changes to live scoring or ranking systems
  • Rigorous experimentation practice: benchmarking against a real baseline, running or reading A/B tests correctly and judging when offline gains will hold in production
  • TypeScript/Python as primary languages, with enough command of AWS, Terraform and CI/CD to ship and own your service's delivery
  • Daily use of coding agents, with careful verification of their output
