Description

Statista is looking for an Analytics Engineer to join its Data Content & Delivery team, shaping the interface between data, technology, and applications. The role develops and maintains Python backend services powering Statista's data access and distribution layer, and builds automated CI/CD and GitOps pipelines on AWS and Kubernetes. It also covers designing data models and schemas (Avro, SQL) for data pipelines and services distributed via a Kafka-based platform and schema registry, plus building access-layer data models in an analytics environment such as Snowflake. The role coordinates priorities, schemas, and timelines between the Data and Tech teams, and is based in Hamburg or Berlin on a hybrid basis.

Requirements

  • At least three years of professional experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a comparable role
  • Very good SQL skills and solid experience in data modeling, e.g. dimensional modeling and star schemas
  • Practical experience with event streaming and message distribution, ideally Kafka, including schema management via a schema registry (Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema)
  • Experience designing data contracts and schemas between upstream data producers and downstream data consumers
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift, and modern data-stack tools like dbt and CI/CD
  • Open to AI-assisted development workflows, e.g. Claude Code or comparable tools
  • Very good communication skills in English and German
