Description

FlixTrain is hiring an Expert in Onboard Technology in Berlin to own its entire on-board technology ecosystem, including WLAN, network infrastructure, on-board units, and mobile devices used by train staff and passengers. As the central technical point of contact, the role evaluates specifications, monitors performance, leads cross-functional projects on connectivity and network performance, and defines network architectures and technical specifications for the vehicle fleet. The role also develops test scenarios and functional validations at the interface with customers and certification bodies, and tracks emerging technologies such as 5G, IoT, and Starlink to shape FlixTrain's technology roadmap. Candidates need a degree in telecommunications, computer science, or electrical engineering, more than two years of experience in network architecture or WLAN systems, and business-fluent German and English.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • More than two years of practical experience in network architecture, WLAN systems, or mobile device management, ideally in a rail vehicle environment or a comparably complex technical setting
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven experience troubleshooting complex network systems under time pressure
  • Willingness to take ownership, bring topics to completion independently, and confidently lead cross-functional initiatives with people from different teams and disciplines
  • Clear and persuasive communication with both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders without losing precision
  • Business-fluent German and English, as you work in an international team and collaborate with German-speaking suppliers and authorities
