Description

Zalando is hiring a Backend Software Engineer for Zalando Payments, designing, developing, testing, and operating the core APIs that let customers pay securely across the fashion store and consumer apps. The engineer owns the full application lifecycle, builds large-scale microservices on AWS, and helps the product meet fintech-industry standards. The role is based in Dortmund or Berlin with a hybrid working model, and expects familiarity with the Java ecosystem, Spring Boot, and microservice/REST architectures.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience as an IT Specialist
  • Experience building and operating production services, ideally in e-commerce or payments
  • Willingness to actively learn new technologies and practices
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with peers within and beyond the team
  • Great communication skills and the ability to lead technical decision-making with the team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a logical and pragmatic attitude
  • Familiarity with the Java ecosystem and frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot), microservice architecture, REST services, and asynchronous distributed systems
