Description

AWS seeks an experienced Senior System Development Engineer to join the Managed Operations team supporting the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a sovereign AWS region for EU customers. The role focuses on operational excellence for high-availability AWS services such as EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda and Bedrock, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliability, performance and scalability. The engineer collaborates with global AWS teams, drives improvements to day-to-day operations, and occasionally participates in on-call rotations to resolve out-of-hours incidents. Candidates must be nationals of an EU member state and fluent in English; relocation support within the EU is provided.

Requirements

  • Experience developing software in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, Python)
  • Must be a national of an EU member state
  • Experience with hardware, software, networking and operating systems
  • Experience in Linux and networking with advanced system diagnostics, root cause analysis, performance optimization and monitoring across distributed systems
  • Experience designing complex systems for performance, simplicity, scalability, durability, cost and security
