Description

Zalando is hiring a Data Engineer for its Sales & Revenue Data team, building and owning the data products relied upon by Zalando Marketing Services (ZMS) and its partners. You will use SQL and dbt to transform raw data into analysis-ready formats, design and maintain robust data models, and define quality standards from SLAs and data contracts to monitoring and incident response. Working across engineering, analytics and business units, you will translate stakeholder needs into accurate, timely data products and raise the data-quality bar across the team. The role requires fluency in dbt, SQL and Python, end-to-end ownership of data products, strong DevOps habits such as infrastructure as code and CI/CD, and hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Databricks or AWS.

Requirements

  • Fluent in dbt, SQL and Python, with a track record of turning raw data into reliable, production-ready assets
  • Experience owning data products end-to-end, with high quality standards
  • Strong DevOps habits applied to data: infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
  • Able to talk directly with stakeholders to uncover their real needs and build practical tools
  • Designs modular data models that scale as business needs evolve
  • Comfortable in cloud-native setups, with hands-on experience on platforms such as Databricks or AWS
  • Treats data quality as non-negotiable, using dbt tests, data contracts or custom frameworks
  • Able to translate complex technical details into clear language for non-technical partners
