Description

Taxfix is looking for an interim Director of IT, Security & Infrastructure in Berlin on a freelance basis to build its internal platform function rather than run a traditional ticket-driven IT department. Reporting to the Chief People Officer and working with the Systems Engineer and partners in Engineering, Legal, Finance and People Ops, you would own the vision and roadmap for the internal infrastructure and tooling layer that every hybrid human-agent team depends on. The role covers core IT operations such as device management, identity and access management, workplace technology, SaaS tooling and hardware provisioning, as well as setting the security strategy and posture for Taxfix's systems and agent ecosystem. You also own IT risk management, compliance controls and audit readiness for GDPR, SOC 2 and financial regulatory requirements, manage vendor relationships and build/buy decisions, and lead and develop the IT team through a period of significant structural change.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading an IT or infrastructure function at a scale-up or regulated tech company, including ownership of helpdesk, MDM, identity management and workplace technology
  • Ability to build a platform mindset in a team that has historically operated as a support function
  • Technical depth to have credible, substantive conversations with engineers and to interrogate technical decisions
  • Security literacy and hands-on experience setting security strategy, including compliance and audit obligations in a regulated environment
  • Experience managing vendors and external partners, including build/buy/outsource decisions
  • Familiarity with compliance and data obligations in a regulated environment such as financial services or tax
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shaping a function that is being designed in real time
  • Track record of growing and investing in the people around you
  • Ego-light approach, comfortable with invisible success and with pushing back on infeasible requests
