Description

Taxfix is looking for an interim Staff Systems Engineer on a freelance basis to join its IT & Infrastructure team and keep the company's enterprise systems running reliably and securely. Reporting to the Director of IT & Infrastructure, you will operate enterprise cloud infrastructure, lead identity management including Okta for human and agentic identities, and manage networks, device management and systems for a hybrid workforce. The role also covers integrating new tools, patching and compliance, backups and redundancy, third-level support for cloud applications, automation and AI-powered tooling, and performance tuning of application stacks such as Apache and Ruby. Candidates need hands-on enterprise cloud administration experience (ideally GCP), practical Kubernetes, Docker and VMware skills, deep TCP/IP networking and network security knowledge, scripting in Python or shell, and experience with Google Workspace, Linux and monitoring systems. The role is based in Berlin with a hybrid setup.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in enterprise cloud administration, designing, operating and scaling cloud environments
  • Solid practical experience with Kubernetes, containerisation and virtualisation technologies such as Docker and VMware
  • Deep networking knowledge, including TCP/IP and related protocols, and confident network troubleshooting
  • Experience implementing network security and governance best practices
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python or shell
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Google Workspace and Linux environments
  • Experience setting up and improving monitoring and visualisation systems
