Description

Product Design Manager at n8n, a remote-first role leading a Product Design team of product designers, design engineers and user researchers. This is a pure management role focused on developing designers, raising the design quality bar and giving design real influence on product direction, with only occasional hands-on design work. You will run 1:1s and performance management, evolve the career progression framework, hire designers and run critiques while partnering with Product and Engineering leadership. Candidates need 3+ years managing product designers in a product-led technology company with a team of five or more, plus hands-on AI fluency. The role reports to the VP of Product until a Head of Design joins.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of managing product designers in a product-led technology company, with a team of five or more; this is not a first management role
  • Experience running effective 1:1s, evidence-based performance reviews and difficult feedback conversations, and building or improving a career progression framework for designers
  • Coaching and mentoring skills, running critiques that change the work, with examples of designers who measurably grew while reporting to you
  • Design taste and judgment strong enough that designers trust your read on quality
  • A track record of consistently hiring excellent designers
  • AI fluency: hands-on use of AI tools in your own work and in how your team designs, and an informed view on designing AI-enabled products
